A Call to Worship
Pentecost 25C [Ordinary 33C] or [Proper 28C] 2010
Psalm 98

Holy God, in reverent awe, we come to worship you!
We gather to honour and glorify God’s almighty name.

Righteous God, we rejoice as we come to worship you!
We gather to celebrate God’s power over the forces of evil.

Faithful God, with thankfulness, we come to worship you!
We gather to sing praises to the God in whom we trust. Amen.

Prayers of Praise
Pentecost 25C [Ordinary 33C] or [Proper 28C] 2010
Psalm 98

Holy God, we gather in prayer to glorify your holy name.
In response to your incredible commitment to humanity,
we can only give thanks to our Glorious God, and celebrate
with all creation and humanity, the wonders and majesty of
the Lord our God, whose holiness has won the eternal victory
over all that threatens to disrupt God’s purposes for creation.

Faithful God, you reveal to us a little of the mystery and
wonder of our God by allowing us each day to experience
examples of your love and generous kindness towards us.
We gather to praise and celebrate the way that our God
chooses to continue in a relationship of trust and love with
humanity, and to rejoice in the way God keeps all those
promises, made so long ago to our ancestors in the faith.

Righteous God, every generation discovers for itself the
amazing honour and worthiness of our God. In awed
amazement, the universal response to these revelations
are songs of joy and shouts of celebration and praises to
our God. We join in that celebration of thankfulness with
our own shouts of acclaim and songs of elation and praise.

Almighty God, you are mystery and majesty; you are power
and patience; you are hope and holiness; and you are love
and liberty. In awed praise, we come before you in worship,
honouring your sacred name as we sing of the glories of God. Amen.

A Personal Meditation
Pentecost 25C [Ordinary 33C] or [Proper 28C] 2010
Psalm 98

I am but a little cog in the great wheel of life that revolves
around the glory and majesty of my God. I am a small speck
on the horizon, when trying to see and understand something
of the wonder of my God - who is beyond understanding or
measuring - yet who cares enough about this small speck and
little cog to accept my sincere worship, praise and thankfulness.

Creative pause: My small contribution of praise pleases God.

My voice is just a small squeak amidst a glorious stream of music
that honours and pays tribute to my God. The words of my song
are simple in comparison to the music of Beethoven, Mozart or
Bach, but my God accepts my little voice as it sincerely joins with
the multitude of people who all want to praise and thank their God.

Creative pause: My small voice and song honours God.

My acts of faithfulness and trust in God are insignificant alongside
the faithfulness and trustworthiness of my God, and yet my faith and
trust in God has the potential to grow each day, as I experience
God’s faithful acts, and know the fulfilment of all God’s promises.

Creative pause: My small faith is a gift from God, and it has the potential to grow.

How blest I am to have the privilege of each day learning more; of
experiencing more; of trusting more in my God - who slowly reveals
more of God’s own self to me as I learn ways of responding to my
God in worship, prayer and praise. I am so grateful to God that I live
in an environment where I have the freedom to explore my faith in God
and to celebrate my God in songs, words and actions that honours God.

Creative pause: I am grateful for the freedom to worship my God.
