A Call to Worship
Lent 1C 2010
Psalm 91: 1-2, 9-16

The Lord our God gives to each one of us
a sense of blessing, security and confidence—
For God alone is our refuge, our place of safety.

Our life experiences reassure us that we can
always trust in God’s goodness and compassion—
For God alone is our refuge, our place of safety.

God’s Presence is expressed to us in many ways
which lead us into a closer relationship with God.
For God alone is our refuge, our place of safety.
Let us worship this holy and glorious God. Amen.

Prayers of Praise and Thankfulness
Lent 1C 2010
Psalm 91: 1-2, 9-16

Glory and honour and offered to you,
O Lord Most High, Almighty King of creation.

In you, O Lord my God, do we trust!
You have been our refuge, our shelter
from the storms of life, and we rest securely
in you, for you are our dwelling place.

You protect us from the evils of the day and
night. You guard and guide our footsteps,
and even when we trip and fall - you are there,
to hold us fast in your strong hands of love.

We rest in you, O Lord our God; we trust
in your holy Name; we cling to your side,
trusting in your saving and redeeming power.

Whenever we call, you are always there for us.
You give us a deep sense of satisfaction,
because we know our lives are- in your hands. Amen.

A Personal Meditation
Lent 1C 2010
Psalm 91: 1-2, 9-16

The Lord our God gives me a quiet sense of security,
peace and confidence, as each day I seek to live
within the holy and life-giving presence of my God.

Creative pause: Why should I be afraid?

Even with the difficulties of living within a community,
my life experiences reassure me. I can trust in God’s
goodness, and these trials will never overcome me.

Creative pause: I have chosen to live in God

The Lord our God’s Presence is expressed to me
in many ways. The security light of God’s love shines
on the real or imagined dangers surrounding me,
and I rest quietly within that light of love and compassion.

Creative pause: God’s presence lights my life.

I am assured of God’s continuing presence, and with
all those beloved of God that I can trust in God’s way
of eternal liberation, joy and peace of heart and mind.

Creative pause: True freedom comes from God.
