A Call to Worship
Christmas Eve Year A 2010
Psalm 96

Let all the world join together in praise of God!
Let all the inhabitants of the earth worship God.
Let us use new technologies to develop new ways
of praising God, and find new ways to glorify God!

Let all the nations of the earth come together with
one purpose - to glorify the Holy God of all peoples.
Let the peoples find new ways of singing and dancing
before the Lord, so that God’s Holy Name is honoured.

Let all creation join in a stately procession of praise,
as they bring their praises to the Gracious Creator!
Let all creation sing a new song to the Lord God!
Let us all bow down before God’s Holy Splendour. Amen.

Prayers of Praise and Thankfulness
Christmas Eve Year A 2010
Psalm 96

Honour and majesty surround our God in the beauty of God’s
own splendour; and all the earth trembles and bows down in
homage, and in recognition of our Awesome God. All creation
brings an offering of praise to the Lord our God, as we all worship
and acclaim the wonders of God’s glory that is beyond all things.

O Lord our God, as your human creation, we lift up our hearts
and our voices in prayers of praise, and in worship of you.
The whole of creation joins in our chorus of praise, and the
heavens add their voices in the glad anthem of praise to God.
All tell the same story about how God has established the earth
and the heavens, and all celebrate together the grandeur of God.

God has set the foundations of the earth, and it can never be
shaken; the waters have been set in their places and they keep
the lands moist and fertile; the trees rustle with the winds of joy
before the Lord, and the crops in the fields sway to the rhythms
of God’s praise as they sing new songs of praise to the Creator.

We praise God with newly created songs and dances, and these
songs ring our across the skies, so that all may hear and know
our praises, and learn that there is no god like the Almighty God.
The Lord our King and Judge is coming. Let us rejoice in the truth
and righteousness of our God, and all glory be to God’s Name. Amen.

A Personal Meditation
Christmas Eve Year A 2010
Psalm 96

I want everyone to sing and dance to the glory of the Lord my God!
I want everyone to know about the wonders and grandeur of my God!
I want everyone to experience the mercies and grace of my God!
I want everyone to share in the blessings and presence of my God!
I want everyone to participate in worshipping the holiness of my God!

Creative pause: I give thanks that I can experience the joy of God.

Let the heavens be joyful and sing praises before the Lord our God!
Let the earth in all its beauty join in the chorus of praise to our God!
Let the waters - the rivers and seas - splash with joy before our God!
Let the trees wave their branches in delight before the Lord our God!
Let the crops in the fields sway to the music of praise to our God!

Creative pause: I give thanks that the earth celebrates God.

Tell all the heavens to share to good news of God’s righteous glory!
Tell all the earth to announce so all can understand that God is King
Tell all the waters to send a message on the tides that God is good!
Tell all the trees to clap their branches with joy at the wonder of God!
Tell all the fields to dance to the rhythms of the beat of God’s heart!

Creative pause: I give thanks that I am part of earth’s response to God.

I give thanks for the privilege of singing ever-new songs to our God!
Joy fills me when I gather with others to sing praises to God, joining
with people from all nations, all tongues in praising our Great God!
Together, we can bless God’s Holy Name; dancing with joy at the
wonder of God’s beauty and mercy; at God’s honour and majesty,
as we bow in reverent awe before the Almighty One, who is God.

Creative pause: I give thanks that I can worship my Holy God.
